When Gertrude Stein was dying, and knew that she was dying, she turned to her long-time friend and companion of many years and asked, "Alice, what is the answer?" and Alice replied, "No one knows."
Then Miss Stein, after a long look at her friend, said, "All right then, what is the question?"
